Weight Loss Medication Options

Today Telemedicine offers medically supervised weight management care, including evaluation, treatment planning, prescription management, dose monitoring, and follow-up support.

When clinically appropriate, patients may choose to use FDA-approved brand-name GLP-1/GIP medications through available third-party manufacturer or pharmacy self-pay programs.

Medication cost is paid directly by the patient to the third-party pharmacy/manufacturer program and is separate from Today Telemedicine’s visit or program fees. Pricing, availability, eligibility, dose options, and savings programs are set by the manufacturer/pharmacy and may change at any time.

Medication Pathways May Include

Semaglutide options

FDA-approved semaglutide options may be available through third-party pharmacy/manufacturer self-pay programs, such as Wegovy® when clinically appropriate.

Tirzepatide options

FDA-approved tirzepatide options may be available through third-party pharmacy/manufacturer self-pay programs, such as Zepbound® when clinically appropriate.

Today Telemedicine does not guarantee medication approval, availability, insurance coverage, savings program eligibility, or specific pharmacy pricing.

FAQs

Do you prescribe FDA-approved weight loss medications?

Yes. When clinically appropriate, Today Telemedicine may prescribe FDA-approved weight loss medications such as Wegovy®/semaglutide or Zepbound®/tirzepatide. Medication choice depends on your medical history, current medications, risk factors, goals, and pharmacy availability.

No. Today Telemedicine provides the medical evaluation, prescription management, monitoring, and follow-up care. Medication is filled through a third-party pharmacy or manufacturer self-pay program, when available and appropriate.

No. Medication cost is separate and paid directly to the third-party pharmacy, manufacturer program, or insurance plan. Today Telemedicine does not control medication pricing, savings eligibility, pharmacy fees, shipping, or inventory.

A third-party self-pay pharmacy program allows eligible patients to pay directly for certain FDA-approved medications without using insurance. These programs are managed by the manufacturer or pharmacy partner, not by Today Telemedicine.

Possibly. Some patients may have insurance coverage for weight loss medications, but coverage varies widely by plan. Prior authorization may be required, and approval is not guaranteed.

Patients without coverage may choose to explore available manufacturer or pharmacy self-pay options. Pricing and eligibility can change, so patients should verify current information directly with the pharmacy or manufacturer program before filling.

We currently only prescribe  FDA-approved brand-name options through third-party pharmacy/manufacturer programs. We no longer prescribe compound medications from compounding pharmacies.

No. A prescription is only provided when medically appropriate after a clinical evaluation. Some patients may not be candidates due to medical history, medication interactions, pregnancy, breastfeeding, certain endocrine conditions, pancreatitis history, gallbladder disease, or other safety concerns.

GLP-1/GIP medications may not be appropriate for patients with certain conditions, including a personal or family history of medullary thyroid carcinomaMEN2, prior serious allergic reaction to the medication, pregnancy, or certain gastrointestinal, pancreatic, gallbladder, kidney, or eating disorder concerns. Your provider will review your history before prescribing.

Common side effects may include nausea, vomiting, constipation, diarrhea, reflux, decreased appetite, bloating, abdominal discomfort, fatigue, or injection-site irritation. Side effects are usually reviewed at each visit, and dose changes may be adjusted based on safety and tolerability.

Yes. Serious but less common risks may include pancreatitis, gallbladder problems, dehydration, kidney injury, low blood sugar in certain patients, allergic reactions, worsening stomach-emptying issues, and mood changes. Patients should seek urgent care for severe abdominal pain, persistent vomiting, signs of dehydration, allergic reaction, or thoughts of self-harm.

Weight loss medications are generally not recommended during pregnancy. Patients who are pregnant, trying to become pregnant, or breastfeeding should discuss this with their provider before starting treatment.

Follow-up frequency depends on your treatment plan, dose changes, side effects, and progress. Regular follow-up is important for safe prescribing, monitoring, dose adjustments, and long-term weight management support.

Medication works best when combined with nutrition changes, physical activity, sleep support, and long-term lifestyle habits. Your provider may recommend realistic goals based on your health history and preferences.

Medication availability is controlled by the pharmacy and manufacturer, not Today Telemedicine. If your medication is unavailable, your provider may discuss alternative options, dose adjustments, or timing based on safety and clinical appropriateness.

Sometimes, but this must be reviewed by your provider. Switching medications depends on your current dose, side effects, medical history, treatment goals, and availability.

Some patients may regain weight after stopping GLP-1/GIP medication. Long-term success usually depends on continued lifestyle habits, follow-up care, and an individualized maintenance plan.

Schedule a weight loss consultation with Today Telemedicine. Your provider will review your medical history, discuss options, review risks and benefits, and determine whether an FDA-approved GLP-1/GIP medication may be appropriate for you.
